A night out with her son!
Jodie Foster brought her son, Charles “Charlie” Bernard Foster, 26, as her plus-one to the 2025 SAG Awards on Sunday, Feb. 23, in Los Angeles, Calif., marking a rare night out for the famous mom and her eldest child.
Charlie walked the SAGs red carpet with his famous mom, 62, who wore a stunning, beaded and burgundy gown. Wearing her short hair straight, Foster accessorized with two bold cuffed bracelets and a large ring — but her best addition was her date.
Her son looked handsome in a classic dark suit with a white dress shirt and a black bow tie. Posing alongside each other, Charlie smiled with pride while hugging his mom, who is nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a TV movie or limited series for “True Detective: Night Country.”
Foster plays Elizabeth Danvers in the HBO crime drama series. The role has already earned her two wins during the 2025 award season.
Foster shares Charlie and her other son, Christopher “Kit” Bernard Foster, 23, with her former partner, Cydney Bernard.
It’s a rare moment for the mother-son duo — especially since Foster kept her acting career a secret from both of her boys.
In 2024, the Oscar winner shared that she sheltered her kids from her acting career, letting Charlie and Kit believe that she was a construction worker during their childhood.
“I guess I just didn’t want them to know me that way,” Foster explained during an appearance on “The View” last year. “I wanted them to know me as their mom and the person who went away to work and stuff.”
“I just didn’t want them to be confused about what I did for a living,” she continued.
“I brought him [Charlie] to set one day and I bought him a little plastic tool belt and stuff,” Foster said. “And I was like, ‘Yeah, and this is this set and this set and this set.’ And for a really long time, he thought I was a construction worker.”
Despite trying to keep her sons out of the public eye and the industry, Charlie has followed in his mother’s footsteps. Not only did he act in several plays in school, but he stole the show when his mom appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show” in Jan. 2024.
When Fallon told the actress he was “really excited” to meet her oldest child, the camera panned to him in the audience.
“That’s a supportive son right there,” the late-night host said. “We love you Charlie!”
After winning the award for best actress in a miniseries or motion picture for “True Detective” in January, Foster gave her sons a shout-out during her acceptance speech.
“I just want to thank my family. Because Kit, my scientist son, and Charlie, my actor son who’s starting his career, hopefully you understand the joy, such joy, that comes from doing really hard, meaningful, good work,” Foster shared. “So my boys, I love you, and this, of course, is for you.”
