Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw laughed off questions about seemingly getting caught on a hot mic claiming that he’d “kill” Tucker Carlson if he met the right-wing pundit.
At the end of an interview with London’s GB News, reporter Steven Edgington asks Crenshaw if he’s met Carlson. The congressman said the pair has had spats on social media, then appears to add “If I ever meet him I’ll f—ing kill him” and calls the former Fox News star and commentator the “worst person.”
When Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor posted a link to that clip and asked her colleague “Did you threaten to kill my friend Tucker Carlson?” Crenshaw dismissed her take on the matter.
“Lol, no,” Crenshaw replied.
Edgington took exception to Crenshaw’s denial, writing on X “We literally have it on video.”
He included a link to the lawmaker’s flip post-interview comment that became inactive Monday night even though the interview itself remained online. Several X users preserved the comments made after the interview and reposted clips that seem to show the former Navy Seal indicating his distaste for Carlson.
Crenshaw has in the past dismissed Carlson as a “click chaser” and a “cowardly, know-nothing elitist who is full of s—.”
Carlson, who claimed in a recently released documentary that he was attacked by demons in his sleep, refers to Crenshaw as “Eyepatch McCain.” Crenshaw lost an eye fighting in combat and shares some of the same conservative ideas as fellow war veteran and former Rep. John McCain, who died in 2018.
Chief among the issues are Crenshaw and Carlson’s positions on Russia’s war against Ukraine. Crenshaw isn’t a fan of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Carlson’s critics accuse him of being sympathetic to the dictator, a slam Carlson vehemently denies.
The 55-year-old provocateur invited the 40-year-old politician to sit down with him for an interview Wednesday night.
“I’ll send you my address,” Carlson offered on X.
