Kate Middleton, Prince William ‘not interested’ in fame: former aide

Kate Middleton and Prince William have absolutely no interest in the “fame and celebrity” that comes with being a royal, their former aide has revealed.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ former staffer, Jason Knauf, opened up about his experience of working with the couple during an interview with “60 Minutes Australia.”

“Neither of the prince or the princess would choose to be public figures,” Knauf said of the Waleses.

“They’re not that interested in the fame and celebrity that comes with it. In fact, not really interested at all. I think that makes it quite interesting in today’s world to see people out there doing their jobs but for the right reasons.”

When asked about the duo’s soaring popularity, Knauf said that they don’t try to control the narrative on social media.

“I don’t think anyone can control the image of anyone in today’s media world, social media world,” he said. You just can’t. All you can do is help people be themselves.”

“With both of these people, the prince and the princess, what you see is what you really get behind the scenes as well,” the former staffer added.

Knauf served as Press Secretary to William, Kate, as well as Prince Harry and later Meghan Markle from 2015 to 2019.

He then became the CEO of William and Kate’s Royal Foundation, and maintained that position until late 2021.

After stepping down from the role, he continued to serve on the board of trustees for the future king’s Earthshot Prize.

Elsewhere in the interview, Knauf doubled down and admitted that he doesn’t regret accusing the Duchess of Sussex of bullying.

“I wouldn’t change anything,” Knauf declared, confirming he stands by his allegations made against the “Suits” alum, 43, in 2018.

When asked about the public attention he received after his 2018 accusations about Markle leaked in 2021, Knauf said, “I think it’s tough, but it’s probably quite good.”

“Someone who is helping other people how to deal with the public eye… you probably have to take your own medicine sometimes,” Knauf continued.

“You can’t choose just to take the fun stuff in any job, and that applies to the prince and princess as well as everyone else working for them,” he added. “So, I wouldn’t change anything.”

In 2018, Knauf alleged in email correspondences to the palace’s human resources department that the duchess bullied two PAs “out of the household.”

His claims were leaked in March 2021 shortly before Markle and Harry’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey aired.
