A criminal investigation into accused rapist and sex trafficker Andrew Tate, and his brother, Tristan, is underway in Florida, officials announced.
“These guys have themselves publicly admitted to participating in what very much appears to be soliciting, trafficking, preying upon women around the world,” Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier told Scripps.
“People can spin it however they want,” he continued. “In Florida, this type of behavior is viewed as atrocious.”
Uthmeier also confirmed the probe in a post shared to X on Tuesday. He said “has directed the Office of Statewide Prosecution “to execute search warrants and issue subpoenas,” in what he called a “now-active criminal investigation” into the brothers.
Andrew Tate later responded to the announcement with his own statement on X.
“Insanity,” it reads. “I am super disappointed in the United States. This isn’t the America I know. This is a sad sad day for America. Trying to find crimes on an innocent man.”
Andrew Tate is a former kickboxer and self-proclaimed misogynist who shot to fame following an appearance on reality TV show “Big Brother.” He was booted from the competition after video emerged of him hitting a woman with a belt, though they both later claimed the act was consensual. He has since amassed millions of followers across his social media channels, where he shares his misogynistic views and touts his opulent lifestyle.
Both he and his brother, Tristan, are also vocal supporters of President Trump. They returned to the United States on Thursday from Romania, where they are facing charges including rape, sex with a minor, people trafficking and money laundering. The men were arrested back in 2022 and have since denied the allegations against them.
They are also under investigation in the U.K., but no charges have yet been filed there. Four women have also accused Andrew Tate of rape and have filed a civil case against him.
