A Long Island man was found stabbed to death on a Suffolk County beach Tuesday morning.
The deceased man was identified as Carlos Perez, 27, a resident of Central Islip, Newsday reported. He was found about 10 miles east at a Blue Point beach at the end of Blue Point Ave., according to police.
Investigators said someone out for a morning walk spotted Perez’s body around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, reported News 12 Long Island. No suspects have been arrested or publicly identified.
“When people take walks and runs, everyone knows each other. It’s pretty shocking,” neighbor Todd O’Connell told News 12. “I come here sometimes at 5 in the morning and there’s already cars in here, waiting for sunrise, but I never see any trouble.”
Perez is not the first person to be found dead on a Long Island beach this year, though other incidents did not involve foul play, according to police. In February, a body was found on South Pine Creek Beach in Fairfield, but investigators described it as simply an “untimely death.”
In January, surfer Jack Shapiro, 54, was found unresponsive on Gilgo Beach and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Investigators said Shapiro drowned.
The Blue Point beach where Perez’s body was found Tuesday is different from Blue Point Beach on Fire Island, where the remains of serial killer victim Karen Vergata were found in 1996.
