Who’s that girl?
“New Girl” creator Elizabeth Meriwether is weighing in on whether she’d ever revisit the show with a reboot or a revival series.
“I give the people what they want. There is a world, it is in a galaxy far, far away, in a multi-verse situation…” the writer, 43, exclusively told The Post.
“No, no,” she clarified while promoting her new show “Dying For Sex” (now streaming on Hulu). “I love the show so much. I love the actors. Everybody who made the show is still in contact with each other. It was like a formative time in everyone’s life, I feel like. And so, it’s hard to go back.”
About whether she’d revisit the “New Girl” world and those characters, she added: “I don’t know; we’ll see.”
“New Girl” originally aired on Fox for seven seasons, from 2011 to 2018.
The sitcom starred Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris, and Jake Johnson as a group of unlikely LA roommates, dealing with dating, work, and personal issues.
The show saw a surge in popularity two years after it ended, during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.
“I think it’s really popular right now because it’s a positive show,”Johnson, 46, told The Post in 2020.
“At its core, there’s a real sweetness to it,” he continued. “And I think more than anything, people want kindness right now. It’s an easy show with relatable characters about people who like one another.”
In February, Greenfield, 45, and Deschanel, 45, also had a mini “New Girl” reunion onstage at the 2025 SAG Awards.
“I feel like the actors always throw me under the bus,” Meriwether joked to The Post.
She explained, “They get asked [if there will be more ‘New Girl,’] and then they’re always like, ‘Well, it’s up to Liz.’ And I’m like, ‘You guys!’”
