Eric Dane’s wife dismissed divorce weeks before revealing ALS

One day before Eric Dane went public with his ALS diagnosis, wife Rebecca Gayheart spoke about the “huge success” of their marriage, just weeks after filing to dismiss her 2018 divorce petition.

The “Jawbreaker” actress, 51, told E! News on Wednesday that the pair are the “best of friends” and “great co-parents.”

“We really figured out the formula to staying a family and I think our kids are benefiting greatly from it and we are as well,” said Gayheart, who shares daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, with the “Grey’s Anatomy” alum.

“I think it’s important to not look at a relationship that ends as a failure,” she added. “It’s just a season. It wasn’t a failure. It was a huge success. We were married for — I mean, we are still married — but together for 15 years and we had two beautiful kids so I think that’s a successful relationship.”

Gayheart’s remarks came just over a month after she filed in early March to dismiss her divorce from 52-year-old Dane, to whom she’d been married since 2004. The “Urban Legend” star initially filed the petition in 2018.

On Thursday, Dane revealed that he’d been diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, after the late New York Yankee who succumbed to the degenerative disease.

Dane told People he feels “grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter,” which will include returning for the third season of HBO’s Emmy-winning drama “Euphoria.”
