A Harlem man admitted Friday to forcing a young woman to perform oral sex on him on the street at gunpoint in 2023.
Albert Brown, 35, pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual act at a brief Manhattan Supreme Court hearing in a plea deal with prosecutors and is expected to receive a 20-year sentence.
Brown approached the 24-year-old woman as she was walking near E. 117th St. between Third and Lexington Aves. on Nov. 1, 2023, and demanded her belongings before snatching her phone and brandishing a gun, according to court records.
He then threateningly tapped his weapon against her abdomen and forced her to perform oral sex, prosecutors alleged in the case.
Afterward, he fled to a building on E. 118th St., where search warrants were later executed, turning up clothing matching what he wore at the scene and his firearm, according to records in the case.
“Albert Brown is now convicted of a horrific act of sexual violence and will face a significant prison term,” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement.
“Every New Yorker deserves to be safe walking our city’s streets and I hope the survivor can continue to heal and recover from the trauma she has experienced.”
Brown is expected to be sentenced on May 9. His attorney did not immediately return requests for comment.
