A suspicious person was arrested Monday morning at UnitedHealthcare’s headquarters in Minnesota, authorities said.
The unidentified person’s presence prompted a massive police response at the provider’s campus in Minnetonka, a southwest Twin Cities suburb, the local police department wrote on social media.
“A suspect outside of United Healthcare has been placed into custody without incident,” Minnetonka police said Monday afternoon. “There is no threat to the public. We are continuing to clear the scene at this time.”
The person’s intentions on the campus remained unclear Monday. A spokesperson for Minnetonka told local CBS affiliate WCCO the suspect was an “intruder” on the campus.
UnitedHealthcare hired Minnetonka police to patrol the company’s headquarters daily following CEO Brian Thompson’s murder in Manhattan in December, according to local ABC affiliate KTSP.
Luigi Mangione, 26, has been charged with state and federal crimes in connection with Thompson’s murder. After a sprawling five-day manhunt, Mangione was arrested in Altoona, Pa., on Dec. 9, 2024.

Before his arrest, Mangione allegedly scrawled a handwritten manifesto blasting the American health care system and proclaiming, “Frankly, these parasites simply had it coming.” In part due to widespread anger with the system, Mangione has attracted a loyal following while in jail.
