James Brolin reveals the cheeky secret to his nearly 30-year marriage with Barbra Streisand

James Brolin has opened up about the secret to his everlasting love with wife Barbra Streisand.

The “Ransom Canyon” star, 84, has been married to the EGOT winner, 82, for nearly three decades, but credits just one thing as the secret sauce to the success of their union.

“The best investment we’ve ever made is our mattress,” Brolin said during an appearance on the “Today” show Tuesday.

“And don’t misunderstand me. We’re both lazy. We love to sleep late. We do a lot of our work on the phone, on paper, reading, right next to each other.”

The “Avengers” actor also shared insight into how he and the “Way We Were” actress tackle disagreements behind closed doors.

“You learn to take a walk,” the Golden Globe winner quipped. “Both of us, not just me. I just think you gotta say, ‘OK, take a deep breath, take a walk.’”

“Because, you know, animals do the same thing, you know? Humans do it to each other, animals do it to each other,” he added.

Brolin tied the knot with Streisand on July 1, 1998 after being set up on a blind date two years prior.

In 2023, Brolin revealed he had been celibate for three years before meeting Streisand.

“I had been — literally it’s a wild word — but I had been celibate for three years, saying, ‘Who needs this?’” Brolin said on “CBS Mornings,” confessing they didn’t have sex until their wedding night.

He explained that he had no “interest in getting involved in a lousy situation” due to his past failed marriages.

Still, he remained sure that Streisand was the one — despite having to ask for her hand in marriage “a minimum of three times.”

The actor admitted that marrying the “Woman in Love” singer was “the best thing [he’s] ever done.”

The “Funny Girl” actress was previously married to actor Elliot Gould from 1963 to 1971. They share a son named Jason.

Brolin, for his part, was previously married twice.

His first ill-fated union was to Jane Cameron Agee from 1966 to 1984, before he moved on with Jan Smithers from 1986 to 1995.

The following year, he met Streisand.

After the pair tied the knot in 1998, Streisand became stepmom to his three children: Josh, 57, Jess, 53, and Molly, 38.

She went on to become grandmother to Josh’s four kids: Trevor, 36, Eden, 30, Westlyn, 6, and Chapel, 4.
