A 35-year-old man was fatally shot in the neck inside a Bronx smoke shop, police said Thursday.
The victim was shot inside J Stop Candy and Gro on E. 183rd St. near Bathgate Ave. in Belmont about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, cops said. A bullet pierced the victim’s neck.
Medics rushed the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital but he couldn’t be saved. His name was not immediately released.
An NYPD spokeswoman said it wasn’t immediately clear if the victim was an employee of the smoke shop or a customer.
The gunman ran off. No arrests have been made.
Cops on Thursday were searching the area for surveillance video that could help them find the shooter.
The killing happened less than a mile from where former Golden Gloves boxer Carlos Teron was fatally shot in the head when someone opened fire on a group of men gathered near a Bronx elementary school on Clinton Ave. near E. 179th St. in East Tremont Tuesday night.
