Ben Affleck is keeping it classy.
The “Argo” director, 52, praised Jennifer Lopez in rare comments about his ex-wife at the red carpet premiere of “The Accountant 2” in Los Angeles Wednesday.
Affleck told Entertainment Tonight that his and Lopez’s five combined children were at the premiere. Affleck has three kids, Samuel, 13, Seraphina, 16, and Violet, 19, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, while Lopez, 55, shares twins Emme and Max, 17, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
“The kids are here, Jen’s kids are here. I’m very, very excited,” Affleck said on the red carpet. “I love when all the kids come out.”
The “Daredevil” actor made it clear that he’s still on good terms with Lopez and her kids despite their recent divorce.
“I don’t read the stuff online much, and sometimes I get the sense that people perpetuate the idea of… they wanna find something negative to talk about,” he said.
“For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them,” Affleck explained. “I love her kids. They’re wonderful. She’s [an] enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.”
He continued, “I’m thrilled that the kids are here with me. The relationships that you can have with children like that, it’s the joy of my life. And those kids are amazing, and I’m glad that this is a movie they want to come to.”
When the ET reporter told Affleck that he’s “a really good dad,” Affleck responded, “I try my best.”
Affleck married the “Let’s Get Loud” singer in July 2022, two decades after calling off their initial engagement.
Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024 after they separated four months earlier. The pair finalized their divorce in January.
Lopez broke her silence on divorcing Affleck in an Interview Magazine piece in October, and said she has no regrets about their romance.
“That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did,” she shared. “But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F–k, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, god. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times.’”
Affleck, meanwhile, finally addressed the divorce last month in an interview with GQ and talked about how the exes handled fame differently, which was evident in Lopez’s 2024 documentary “The Greatest Love Story Never Told.”
“My temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private than hers. As happens in relationships, you don’t always have the same attitude towards these things,” said Affleck.
“And so I thought, Oh, this is interesting because how do you reconcile that? Love and support this person. I believe in them. They’re great. I want people to see that,” he continued. “And I think the thing that I said in that documentary or the piece that they used was where I said, ‘You don’t marry a ship captain.’ And then say, ‘Well, I don’t like going out in the water.’ You’ve got to own what you knew going into any relationship.”
Affleck also clarified, “I think it’s important to say that wasn’t the cause of some major fracture.”
The former couple have kept the peace in their blended family since their split. One month after Lopez filed for divorce, the exes brought four of their kids to lunch at The Beverly Hills Hotel.
A few days later, Lopez and Affleck reunited at their kids’ back-to-school night.
