Shooting at Florida State University leaves at least 4 injured


A suspect has been apprehended following a shooting at Florida State University Thursday that left at least four hospitalized, according to reports.

An emergency alert went out to the FSU community shortly after noon, warning that an “active shooter has been reported in the area of Student Union.”

“Continue to seek shelter and await further instructions,” it continued. “Lock and stay away from all doors and windows and be prepared to take additional protective measures.”

At least four people were injured, WCTV reported, citing hospital officials. Their exact conditions, however, were unclear.

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is “actively receiving and caring for patients” from the shooting, a spokesperson said in a statement to CNN. “At this time, details are still unfolding, and we do not yet have specific information to share.”

A suspect is also reportedly in custody in connection with the gunfire, though authorities have not provided details regarding the capture nor the suspect’s identity.
