Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to travel to a remote Scottish island for their 14th wedding anniversary next week, The Post can confirm.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, who tied the knot in a lavish wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011, are looking to embrace the simple life with an overnight trip in the Scottish countryside.
The two-day getaway, slated for April 29 and 30, will be doubly special for the couple, as they first met in Scotland while studying at the University of St Andrews in Fife.
The pair will mix work with pleasure during the trip as Kensington Palace has revealed that on Tuesday — the day of their anniversary — William and Catherine will visit several community hubs in remote villages such as Tobermory, where they’ll learn more about farming and hospitality.
The royal couple will also make a private visit to the nearby island of Iona, where they will spend quality time in ancient woodland and get acquainted with the local farm animals.
“The landscapes and communities on the Scottish Isles provide a sharp contrast to how many of us in more urban environments live,” the palace said in a statement.
“These island communities offer a powerful model for fostering a more loving, empathetic and compassionate society through deeper connections with our surroundings and engaging more in shared endeavors.”
The following day, the prince and princess will meet with children enrolled in local schools.
As for gifts, William and Catherine are looking to stray from UK tradition, which marks 14th wedding anniversaries with ivory gifts.
The future king, who initiated the Earthshot Prize, has long voiced his concerns with illegal wildlife trade and has previously called for a global ban on ivory sales.
William previously described ivory as a “symbol of destruction, not of luxury and not something that anyone needs to sell or trade.”
“Indeed I would challenge anyone, who knows the truth of how these wildlife products are obtained to justify desiring them,” he said in 2016.
Instead, the Waleses will find alternative gifts for one another, a source told The Post.
The couple’s trip will mark Middleton’s furthest official duty travels since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March 2024.
Ahead of the getaway, William will attend the funeral of Pope Francis at the Vatican on Saturday, in place of his cancer-stricken father, King Charles.
King Charles and Queen Camilla met with the pope two weeks ago during a trip to Italy, and were some of the last world leaders to have an audience with the holy leader before his death on Monday, according to the BBC
