Ex-Giants, Jets kicker Jay Feely running for Congress in AZ

Former New York Giants and New York Jets kicker Jay Feely is running for a House of Representatives seat in Arizona.

Feely, 48, announced his candidacy on Tuesday. His campaign website describes him as “a proud conservative and staunch supporter of President Donald Trump.”

“I remember starting to really think about running for office the day that [Trump] got shot,” Feely told Fox News.

Feely is running in the Republican primary for Arizona’s 5th Congressional District, which covers southeastern suburbs of Phoenix. The solidly Republican district is currently represented by Andy Biggs, but he has already announced a campaign for Arizona governor in 2026.

Other candidates include Travis Grantham, a former Arizona state representative, and Alex Stovall, an Army veteran. Both have also pledged to support Trump.

“I’m excited about this next chapter of my life,” Feely told ESPN on Tuesday. “I think that I feel god’s calling pressing me into service, and that’s really what I believe it is, is the civil service.”

A Florida native and University of Michigan graduate, Feely had a 14-year career as an NFL kicker, spending two years each with the Giants (2005-06) and Jets (2008-09). He played for the Arizona Cardinals from 2010-2013 and spent his last year playing four games for the Chicago Bears.

After his playing career, Feely joined CBS Sports and appeared on NFL broadcasts for 10 years.
