‘First time holding a football?’

Wisconsin Democratic Gov. Tony Evers was ridiculed on social media Thursday after posting a “cringe” video of himself “getting warmed up” for the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay.

“Go long, Tony,” the lanky 73-year-old governor says in the clip as he drops back to pass, cocks his arm and propels the pigskin forward.

On the receiving end of the throw is Evers himself, who looks more like he’s about to field a punt than a pass but catches the ball nonetheless.

Social media users ruthlessly questioned Evers’ athletic abilities after he posted the clip. X / @GovEvers

The video mercifully ends after Evers jogs about three steps and spikes the football to celebrate his “touchdown” with fanfare blaring in the background.

“How did Dems ever lose the male vote by 80%?” conservative podcaster Stephen L. Miller sarcastically wrote on X, reacting to the governor’s pre-draft post.

Several tweets referenced Evers’ poor technique and “low energy and lack of coordination.”

“First time holding a football?” Joe J. Penora wondered on X.

“My 10 year old daughter throws a football better than that,” another tweeter argued.

“Hey Noodle Arm, please stop,” a pro-Trump account implored. “The cringe is off the charts.”

“Looks like he plays for the Bears,” Rep. Bryan Steil (R-Wis.) wrote on X. X / @GovEvers

Even other politicians got in on the ribbing.

“Looks like he plays for the Bears,” Rep. Bryan Steil (R-Wis.) wrote on X, referring to the Chicago NFL team that went 5-12 last year.

“This prospect has no chance of being drafted in 2026…” Eric Hovde, a 2024 GOP Senate candidate from Wisconsin, said of Evers

“Is this like Evers’ way of trying to taunt [Brett Favre] into running for Gov in ‘26?” Wisconsin political operative Jake Curtis wrote on X, referring to the legendary Green Bay Packers quarterback and supporter of President Trump.

The White House rapid response X account shared a video clip from 1992 of the president impressively throwing a spiral through a target in Buffalo, in front of a packed stadium, to show Evers that “this is how you throw a football.”
