Willie Nelson’s wife took issue with a social media post arguably implying the couple’s son is looking after his parents.
Annie D’Angelo also blasted that site for being loose with details and using a photo of their son Lukas Nelson that was taken by a friend.
“Why would you take a photo from someone else’s feed (my friend @marthacasselbodell) & then make stuff up?” she asked media site AXS TV.
According to People, that message to AXS TV, which no longer seems to be on D’Angelo’s Instagram page, was published April 14.
The article that upset D’Angelo reportedly showed her, her country star husband and their son together and was captioned, “Lukas Nelson takes pride in taking care of 91-yr-old dad, Willie Nelson & 63-yr-old mom, Annie D’Angelo.”
It also reportedly claimed, “Lukas makes sure mom & dad are comfortable and living their best life after many long years of making rad music.”
Nelson, 91, continues to tour. He’s scheduled to perform at Jones Beach with Bob Dylan, Wilco, Lucinda Williams and Waylon Payne in August.
“I still take care of my husband,” continued the singer’s wife, who is 68, adding the couple’s two sons are always helpful.
“Then you claim our incorrect ages,” she continued. “Don’t do that. Just ask.”
Nelson and D’Angelo married in 1991. Nelson told People in 2023, “[She’s] my lover, my wife, nurse, doctor, bodyguard.”
