Boy, 7, shoots himself in finger with gun found in Bronx home, dad arrested



A 7-year-old Bronx boy shot himself in the finger with a gun he found in his family’s Bronx home and his father has been arrested over the mishap, police said Monday.

The boy shot himself in the left index finger inside the family’s house on E. 230th St. near Bronxwood Ave. in Wakefield about 6:50 a.m. Sunday, cops said.

The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center and expected to recover.

His father, Terry Willie, 61 was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon and child endangerment. He told cops he was cleaning the house when his son found the gun and accidentally shot himself.

Cops recovered the gun.

Willie has 12 prior arrests, with his most recent arrest occurring eight years ago for assault, police sources said.
