A 17-year-old boy was arrested in the shooting death of another teen across the street from a Brooklyn public school, cops said Monday night.
The arrested youngster, whose name was not released, was hit with murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon for the rain of bullets that killed Zanir Childs, 18, and wounded a woman, also 18, in the right arm.
The bloodshed erupted across the street from Public School 36 in East New York around 9:55 p.m. on May 17. Childs lived about half a mile away in the Boulevard Houses, cops said.
“I’m just lost for words. I’m really bothered by it,” one neighborhood resident, Curtis Smith, told the Daily News at the time of the senseless violence. “It’s just sad.”
