Jets owner Woody Johnson to buy $254 million stake in Prem club Crystal Palace – New York Daily News

Woody Johnson is adding to his pro sports portfolio.

The Jets owner has an agreement to purchase a 43% stake in the Premier League team Crystal Palace for $254 million, the English soccer club announced.

Johnson, who served as the United States ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2017 to 2021, agreed to buy the stake from John Textor, an American businessman.

The sale still faces several steps, including approval from the Premier League, to become official.

“Whilst the completion is pending approval from the Premier League and Women’s Super League, we do not envisage any issues and look forward to welcoming Woody as a partner and director of the club,” Crystal Palace said in a statement.
