Eric Dane’s girlfriend was reportedly “blindsided” when the actor brought another woman to his first red carpet outing since revealing his ALS diagnosis.
A source told Us Weekly that 27-year-old model and actress Priya Jain “is devastated” after Dane, 52, attended last week’s premiere of his upcoming show “Countdown” while holding hands with filmmaker Janell Shirtcliff.
Jain was “shocked” and “devastated” to see Dane with someone else, the source said, as the couple — who “dated for one year” — had just spoken in the days before he posed with Shirtcliff.
“There’s no chance of getting back together. Heartbreaks you move on from, but the public humiliation lingers on,” the insider added.
Though Jain “spent so long caring for” the “Grey’s Anatomy” alum amid his battle with ALS and “wanted to be there for him [through] all of it,” the source said that maybe Dane’s move “saved her years, and as heartbreaking as it is, maybe it was a blessing with the relationship coming to an end.”
Dane revealed in April that he’d been diagnosed with the neurodegenerative disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS impacts the muscles needed to move, speak, eat and breathe, and worsens over time, per Mayo Clinic.
Dane shared on “Good Morning America” earlier this month that his right arm has “completely stopped working.”
Just over a month before sharing the news of his diagnosis, Rebecca Gayheart — with whom he shares daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13 — filed to dismiss her 2018 divorce petition.
“We really figured out the formula to staying a family and I think our kids are benefiting greatly from it and we are as well,” Gayheart told E! News in April.
Representatives for Dane did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.
