Possible stray bullet kills woman, 36, near Brooklyn’s Barclays Center: NYPD

A 36-year-old woman, possibly an innocent bystander, was shot dead at a bustling Brooklyn intersection Wednesday night, police said.

The gunman shot the victim in the head near the corner of Carlton Ave. and Pacific St. in Prospect Heights at about 10:20 p.m.

The shooting occurred as a “pop up” party was raging near the corner, said police. Detectives are investigating if a stray bullet fatally struck the woman.

The killing occurred just a few blocks from Barclays Center, where the NBA draft was being held Wednesday night.

Responding officers found the woman dead in the roadway. Her name was not immediately released.

The gunman, who was wearing beige pants, a white shirt, and a black mask, was last seen fleeing down Pacific St., cops said.

Police on Thursday were scouring the area for surveillance video that could show what occurred and help them identify the shooter.
