One person is dead and three people are wounded, including a teenage girl, following a drive-by shooting in Trenton, N.J. Thursday night.
Police were called to an area on the 100 block of Passaic Street shortly before 9 p.m. for reports of a “shooting in progress,” according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
When police arrived on the scene, they found three adult males and a 16-year-old female suffering gunshot wounds.
All four victims were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where 24-year-old Karan Hunter was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities said a preliminary investigation found the victims were standing along the street when shots were fired from a car that pulled up on the group.
Police had not made any arrests or publicly identified any suspects as of Friday afternoon. A motive for the shooting also remained unclear.
Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora told New Jersey station 101.5 that a man in his 20s, who was on a porch with his girlfriend when the shooting occurred, was still in critical condition on Friday morning. The two other victims were said to be in stable condition.
Hunter is reportedly the seventh person to be fatally shot in Trenton so far this year.
