Two people were fatally struck by trains at separate downtown Manhattan subway stations Wednesday afternoon.
Around 3:30 p.m., first responders rushed to the Union Square-14th St. subway station, where a 42-year-old man was struck by a train, cops said.
The man was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.
The incident caused delays on the N, Q, R and W lines heading both uptown and downtown, according to the MTA.
A little more than an hour later, around 4:56 p.m., first responders rushed to the Broadway-Lafayette St. subway station, at W. Houston St., where an unidentified man was hit by a train.
This second man was also pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
Subway service was suspended on the B line and on the uptown D line in Manhattan, according to the MTA.
Two MTA employees were transported by EMS to Bellevue Hospital after suffering minor injuries in the incident, according to the FDNY. It was unclear exactly how the employees were injured.
Neither incident was deemed criminal, police said.
