Man and woman shot at Manhattan Drew Hamilton houses


A man and a woman were shot Monday afternoon at the Drew Hamilton houses in Manhattan, cops said.

The unidentified man, believed to be in his 30s, was sitting on a bench near the rear of the housing complex around 2:37 p.m. near Frederick Douglass Blvd. and W. 142nd St. in Harlem when a gunman dressed in all black walked up to him and opened fire, hitting him in the abdomen and left arm, police sources said.

Another woman, who was said to be in her 40s, was running away from the gunfire when she was struck in the lower back, cops said.

“There are lot of shots, at least five and six,” one witness said. “I saw the guy on the side, he was hit in the stomach, he was over there by the bench when they put him on the stretcher.”

EMS transported the victims to Harlem hospital where they were both in stable condition.

Cops recovered 10 shell casings from the scene. There were no arrests in the incident.

Police believe the man in his 30s was the intended target in the shooting as they look to track down the gunman, sources said.

“It’s not the first time, it happens all the time here,” the witness said.
