Man, 51, clinging to life after he’s punched in face at NYC subway station

A 51-year-old commuter is clinging to life Thursday after he was punched in the face by another straphanger during rush hour at a Times Square subway station, police said.

The victim was inside the 42nd St.-Times Square station on the mezzanine above the N/Q/R platform Wednesday around 6:45 p.m. when he got into an argument with another man, cops said.

During the argument, the other man punched the victim in the face, sending him reeling back onto the station floor, witnesses told police.

The victim struck his head on the floor and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he remained in critical condition, on life support Thursday morning.

The attacker ran out of the station and was being sought by authorities.

Cops were recovering surveillance footage from the station in the hopes of identifying the assailant.
