A French tourist was arrested early Friday for climbing to the top of the Williamsburg Bridge, police said.
Cops were called to the East River span at about 2:15 a.m. after Louis de Lestrange, 21, was seen climbing the Manhattan tower.
NYPD Aviation, Harbor, and Emergency Services units were called in to grab Lestrange, but by the time they began climbing up the bridge, he was already on his way down, cops said.
Police grabbed Lestrange, who lives in Paris, on the bridge’s bicycle path, charging him with reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, and violating local law.
He provided police his French passport when he was arrested, but it wasn’t immediately clear where he was staying while he was in New York.
His arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court was pending on Friday.
