U.S. Border Patrol agents are using the Coldplay kiss-cam video that cost two AI company executives their jobs to warn undocumented immigrants they’re not safe from authorities.
An Interim Chief Patrol Agent for the El Paso Sector Walter N. Slosar and Chief Patrol Agent from the agency’s Tucson Sector posted a doctored video of two border officials pretending to search for people who are in the country illegally at a Massachusetts concert where a stadium jumbotron recently spotted married Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and his his company’s human resources director Kristin Cabot canoodling.
Byron and Cabot, who are both married to other people, panicked upon seeing themselves on the big screen and attempted to sneak out of view.
“Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy,” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked after seeing the couple’s evasive reaction.
The border agents’ video posted Thursday shows two uniformed officers appearing to walking past Byron and Cabot searching for someone.
“When Border Patrol shows up and illegal aliens try to disappear! We will find you, you will be arrested and removed from the country!” Interim Chief Patrol Agent for the El Paso Sector Walter N. Slosar’s post is captioned.
His parter’s Instagram video offers the same message.
The video itself shows the shamed lovebirds looking shocked as the words “The face you make when Border Patrol walks in and you’re an illegal alien” appear on the screen.
The Trump Administration has gone to great lengths to put an emphasis in deterring illegal immigration since coming to power in January.
Homeland Defense Secretary Kristi Noem welcomed Rodney S. Scott as the nation’s Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Wednesday.
“With his decades of frontline experience and unwavering commitment to law and order, Commissioner Scott will supercharge our work to make America safe again and serve @CBP — and our nation — with distinction,” she posted on X.
Trump administration critics have taken issue with the aggressive nature with which detentions and deportations have been executed.
