Hulk Hogan died from a heart attack, it has been confirmed.
The wrestling legend suffered an acute myocardial infarction before his death last week at the age of 71, according to documents obtained by Us Weekly.
He also had a history of leukemia CLL, a type of cancer that affects white blood cells called lymphocytes, per the records, though few other details on the matter were provided.
First responders were called to Hogan’s residence in Clearwater, Fla. on July 24 for an emergency relating to a “cardiac arrest.” The mustachioed wrestling star — born Terry Gene Bollea — was rushed from his home via ambulance to Morton Plant Hospital.
Once there, paramedics told staff Hogan had just returned home from the hospital after a surgery, the Tampa Bay Times reported. They also noted that he was “currently waiting to start dialysis.”
Hogan was pronounced dead some 90 minutes after his arrival at the hospital. His death came just days after his former manager, Jimmy Hart, took to social media to share an update about Hogan, following online rumors that he’d had been hospitalized and “might not make it.”
“Hulk is going great, doing phenomenal!” Hart said in a July 22 post on X. “Last night at karaoke with [Hogan’s son] Nick was absolutely fantastic, baby!!!”
In an emotional Instagram post last Friday, Hogan’s third wife, Sky Daily, confirmed her husband had been “dealing with some health issues” leading up to his death, but said the loss was “sudden” as she expected him to “overcome” the unspecified condition he was battling.
