A love triangle may be to blame for the death of a 23-year-old man who was fatally struck by a car belonging to his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend near a Queens street corner, police sources said Friday.
Cops responding to a report of an assault in progress at the corner of 101st St. and Liberty Ave. in Ozone Park around 10:45 p.m. Thursday found a 23-year-old man sprawled out in the street with severe injuries across his body, cops said.
EMS rushed him to Jamaica Hospital, where he died about 45 minutes later. His name was not immediately released.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine exactly how the man died.
Also at the scene was the victim’s ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend, who were sitting in a car nearby. Police said the pair had driven away, but did not go very far.

Cops were told that the victim followed the couple to 101st St. and then stormed up to their car and flashed some kind of weapon at the window of the boyfriend, who was driving.
The boyfriend, 31, drove off south on 101st St., hitting the victim in the process, according to police.

Police are questioning the current boyfriend about the 23-year-old victim’s death.
