Mets’ Pete Alonso hits home run No. 250, moves closer to Strawberry

Pete Alonso achieved a piece of prestigious personal history.

He took one step closer to a major Mets milestone, too.

Alonso’s three-run home run on Saturday afternoon was the 250th homer of his career.

The first-inning blast against San Francisco Giants starter Kai-Wei Teng left Alonso two home runs away from tying — and three away from passing — Darryl Strawberry for the most homers in franchise history.

Since Alonso’s MLB debut in 2019, only the Yankees’ Aaron Judge (269) has hit more home runs.
