Former “The View” host Rosie O’Donnell fears the long-running daytime program she once hosted will soon be taken off the air.
According to O’Donnell, who moved to Ireland in response to her old nemesis Donald Trump becoming president for a second time in January, she was informed ABC is “reviewing the liberal bias” of the talk show she first hosted in 2007 and briefly returned to in 2015.
“They say they’re not canceling it— they’re just ‘reviewing the bias,’” O’Donnell charged on TikTok Wednesday. ”Which is code for — we’re gonna cancel it we’re just trying to soften you up first.”
The 63-year-old comic blamed the Trump administration for pressuring media outlets critical of the president into silence.
“And ‘The View?’ Well, that’s a little too much woman — a little too much truth — a little too much Joy Behar saying ”I don’t think the insurrection was a tourist visit, Karen.”
Though “The View’s” current cast includes former Trump administration director of strategic communications Alyssa Farah Griffin, co-hosts including Behar and Whoopi Goldberg are often critical of the president.
Donnell said on TikTok that she doesn’t believe “The View” has a bias problem.
“I know how hard it is to get four women to agree on lunch — let alone politics So don’t tell me The View is some radical leftist threat,” she said.
According to O’Donnell, there’s a bigger picture to consider for TV executives and government officials who take issues with shows like “The View.”
“This isn’t just about a TV show. It’s about what happens when powerful men decide they’ve heard enough from women,” she said.
“The View” debuted on ABC in 1997 with veteran news anchor Barbara Walters at the helm. Barack Obama is the only sitting president to appear on the show, which has also hosted Donald Trump, Bill Clinton and Joe Biden while they were not in office.
It’s not clear where O’Donnell came across information leading her to believe “The View” is in jeopardy. ABC News declined to address her comments.
“The View” began its summer break on July 25 and is expected to begin Its 29th season in September. Days before that break began, Behar criticized President Trump for his connection to the Jan.6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and claimed he was jealous of Obama’s presidency.
The White House responded by calling Behar “an irrelevant loser” and warning that her daytime program’s days could be numbered.
