Brooklyn basketball star Sebastian Telfair wants President Trump to save him from going to prison with a last-second pardon.
The Abraham Lincoln High School standout drafted by the Portland Trailblazers in 2004 is scheduled to begin a 6-month sentence Tuesday after allegedly failing to satisfy the terms of a plea agreement for his part in a healthcare fraud case, according to TMZ.
Telfair told the tabloid site he’s “mad” that he’ll be spending time in jail because he’s accused of failing to fulfill his community service obligation.
“I know Donald Trump’s got some big things going on, but Donald Trump, I need you to come holla’ … give your boy a pardon so I could stay home with my baby,” he pleaded.
The point guard blamed a “paperwork” error from the penalty that could keep him from seeing his 3-year-old child until next year.
“Donald Trump, holla at your boy,” Telfair added.
Telfair also spent time with the Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors and Oklahoma Thunder before retiring in 2017 after also playing professionally in China.
He’s since had numerous run-ins with the law including a pair of weapons charges. He was one of 18 NBA players accused by prosecutors in 2021 of trying to cheat the league’s health care plan out of nearly $4 million. He pleaded guilty in 2023 and was given probation, according to Bloomberg.
Telfair told TMZ it’s “super unfair” an alleged violation of that agreement has him headed to prison — and begged Trump to look into his situation.
