Giants’ Abdul Carter trashes Jets while mocking own embarrassing play

Giants rookie Abdul Carter belittled the Jets on Sunday while mocking the first lowlight of his NFL career.

The first-round pick got planted onto his backside twice on the same play in Saturday’s preseason game: first by Jets tight end Stone Smartt on a chip block and again by Jets tackle Chukwuma Okorafor as Carter tried to get up.

But Carter wanted the last laugh on his ‘Welcome to the NFL’ moment.

“Might be the only highlight of the Jets all season and we put BTA,” Carter posted on ‘X,’ using an acronym for the phrase ‘Belt to Ass.’ “Weak ass chip ate that mf like bbq.”

There’s a lot going on in that post.

Carter is flexing on the Jets after registering one tackle as his lone stat in 19 snaps. He’s also mocking another NFL franchise before ever playing in a regular season game.

On the other hand, Carter is owning an embarrassing play on his own film.

After the Giants’ 31-12 preseason win, Carter had been asked about the viral play, and he’d said: “It happens, but we got the win. That’s all I’m worried about.”

So that play should be a good learning tool for Carter to use as he prepares for the games that count.

He needs to sack a quarterback soon or he’ll be looking real shaggy for that Sept. 7 opener in Washington.

Carter had promised before the Jets game that he was “not getting haircut til I get a sack.”

When asked about that challenge to himself and his long hair, Carter said: “It won’t be like this for long.”

So presumably he’ll be hunting as hungry as ever against the Patriots in Thursday’s preseason finale.
