Tamar Braxton reveals serious injuries, says she ‘almost died’

Singer and actress Tamar Braxton revealed Tuesday that a friend found her “in a pool of blood” over the weekend and that the mysterious incident almost killed her.

“I struggled to write this, but everyone keeps calling me and honestly, I can’t even really talk anymore I’m so weak,” Braxton wrote to her 6.1 million Instagram followers as the Clavier song “Spirit Lead Me” played in the background. “I almost died Sunday. I was found in a pool of blood … with a face injury. As the days go by, the worse it is.”

Braxton explained that she fractured her nose, “lost some teeth” and is struggling with mobility as a result of what happened. But she didn’t reveal many details, partly because she doesn’t have them.

“As my health is on the mend, my mental journey begins… pray for me for real,” wrote the “Love & War” singer. “I don’t even know what happened to me.”

Before that, Braxton wrote, “Thank you God for waking me up today,” and later posted Proverbs 3, a Bible passage about the qualities of strong women.

The R&B singer is known to have struggled with various physical and mental health issues through the years, including blood clots in her lungs and depression and anxiety that led to a suicide attempt in 2020. In 2018, she said she’d been molested numerous times as a kid — the trauma of which she later realized she hadn’t faced.

Braxton and her sisters have harmonized together since they were young, and Tamar used to sing backup for her oldest sister, Grammy Award-winning R&B artist Toni Braxton. They all starred together in “Braxton Family Values,” a reality series based on the family life of the five sisters — in between Tamar and Toni are Traci, Towanda and Trina — and their mother, Dr. Evelyn “Miss E” Braxton.

Two years after “Braxton Family Values” ended in 2020, Traci Braxton died of esophageal cancer at age 50, and her last wish was for the girls to reprise the series. To that end, the remaining sisters and their mother have returned to We TV on “The Braxtons,” which debuted last year and has been renewed for a second season.
