Jake Paul to fight Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis on Netflix in November

Jake Paul and lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis will fight in Atlanta on Nov. 14, and the bout will be streamed live on Netflix.

Paul, 28, has fought several famous names during his boxing career, but Davis will be the first top tier active boxer he’ll square off with. The 30-year-old Davis is 30-0-1 with 28 knockouts in his career and is the current WBA lightweight champion.

The details of the fight remain unclear. The heaviest weight Davis has fought at during his career is 140 pounds. Paul has generally fought around 200 pounds. His promotion team insisted the November match would not be an exhibition.

“I can tell you that we’re going to have a fight that will have a definitive outcome, whether by way of knockout or decision,” Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian told ESPN.

Paul’s older brother, Logan, fought Floyd Mayweather in an eight-round exhibition in June 2021 in Miami. Though Mayweather bossed the bout while appearing to go half-speed, no winner was declared.

Paul and Davis have traded public barbs for years. Paul admitted early in his pivot to boxing that he wanted to fight Davis, and public insults are a typical way to generate fight interest.

“Gervonta who has been disrespecting my name for too long,” Paul wrote Wednesday on social media. “My motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds. And I like my odds.”

While Paul and Netflix enthusiastically announced the fight, Davis did not release any corresponding public comment. After winning his first 30 bouts, Davis fought to a shocking and controversial draw against Lamont Roach at Barclays Center in March.
