Cracker Barrel introduces new look with Meatpacking District event



Cracker Barrel is celebrating its new look with a Thursday morning country music pop-up event in the Meatpacking District.

Starting at 10 a.m. on Gansevoort Plaza in lower Manhattan, the freshly rebranded restaurant chain “will temporarily transform into a slice of roadside Americana, complete with homestyle bites, line dancing, lawn games and plenty of gingham,” according to a press release.

The event runs through 6 p.m. and includes a 1 p.m. appearance by country music star Jordan Davis.

Cracker Barrel introduced its new logo this week. Gone is the old signage featuring a man in overalls seated next to a barrel. The new logo simply shows the Tennessee-based eatery’s name inside a barrel-shaped graphic.

The restaurant chain also introduced a new menu to celebrate more that 55 years of operation.

Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino told “Good Morning America” on Monday restaurant managers who’ve seen some of her stores’ newly revamped interiors want to know when their operations will be modernized.

“The feedback and the buzz is so good,” she claimed.

But many social media users urged the company to stick with tradition.

“Please we beg of you! Don’t change the iconic Cracker Barrel design! For the love of the ‘Uncle Herschel’s favorite’ Breakfast don’t do this!! You’re killing me!! Your killing… us,” wrote comedian Larry the Cable Guy.

His reference is to a popular menu item that includes “farm fresh eggs” and grits.
