‘A Minecraft Movie’ struck box office gold, debuting at No. 1



It struck gold at the box office.

“A Minecraft Movie” raked in $58 million Friday, reigning supreme on its first day in theaters, according to The Numbers.

The family-friendly fantasy adventure, which stars Jason Momoa and Jack Black, is slated to take in upwards of $135 million this weekend, making it the bigger opening of the year so far.

The Post called the flick, which is based on the popular video game, “imbecilic green-screen gunk,” “idiotic” and a “cavern of stupidity.”

“The Chosen: Last Supper Part 2” took second place, with sales of more than $2.8 million.

The biblical series, based on the life of Jesus Christ, debuts its episodes in theaters before they air on Prime Video. On Friday, it released Season 5 episodes 3, 4 and 5 on the big screen.

It is expected to earn just under $7 million this weekend, according to Deadline, which noted “it’s been a while since we’ve seen a double digit opening for a faith-based film.”

“A Working Man” came in third, with close to $2 million in sales.

The action thriller, which debuted at No. 1 last Friday, stars Jason Statham and was directed by David Ayer, who penned its script with Sylvester Stallone.

“Disney’s Snow White” — which has been tanking so terribly that it forced the company to halt its live-action remake of its beloved 2010 movie “Tangled” — landed in fourth with a $1.5 million take.

In fifth was “The Woman in the Yard,” a psychological horror film that took in $1.32 million, which Variety said, “never musters the imagination to horrify.”
