A suspect was wounded after a police involved shooting on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn Tuesday night.

A tense confrontation involving a suspected stolen car erupted in gunfire Tuesday night, with a police officer opening fire on a passenger in the vehicle on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn Tuesday night, authorities said.

According to police, officers attempted to pull a vehicle over around 8:16 p.m. after the car was reported to be stolen near the Coney Island exit in Brighton Beach.

Two suspects inside the vehicle, however, took off on the Belt Parkway — traveling for nearly eight miles before they ditched the car near Seaview Ave. and Pennsylvania Ave. in East New York and started to run, police sources said.

During the chase, one officer shot the car passenger, who went into cardiac arrest, sources said. According to ABC7, that suspect was listed in critical condition.

Both suspects were placed under arrest, cops said.

No officers were injured in the incident.
