A$AP Rocky and Rihanna enjoyed a Los Angeles date night Tuesday, hours before the latter appeared in court Wednesday to support the rapper in his felony assault trial.
The A-list couple, both 36, dined at swanky hotspot Verse, where the billionaire Fenty founder was seen signing records for a fan waiting outside, reported TMZ.
Rihanna wore faded jeans, a denim button-down and a black leather trench, while the Harlem-born A$AP Mob member sported the white button-down, black tie and tan trench he’d worn in court earlier in that day.
Despite defense attorneys previously saying Rihanna was unlikely to attend Rocky’s trial, she was later seen making her first courtroom appearance Wednesday afternoon. According to Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon, she sat in the front row next to Rocky’s mom, “flanked by security.”
The “Diamonds” artist was there to show her support for her partner, with whom she shares two young sons, as he attempts to fend off two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
Prosecutors claim that in late 2021, Rocky fired two bullets at A$AP Relli, striking him in the hands. Rocky staunchly denies that that he shot his old pal during the alleged Hollywood altercation between the A$AP Mob alums.
If convicted, the “Sundress” artist faces up to 24 years behind bars. He turned down a plea deal last week in which he would have served 180 days for pleading guilty to one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
Though Wednesday marked Rihanna’s first court appearance during Rocky’s trial, she’s had a presence since before it started. Last week, potential jurors were asked whether they were fans of Rihanna or had purchased her Fenty products, and whether they’d be able to reach an impartial verdict if she was in the courtroom.
