A$AP Rocky and Rihanna have baby No. 3 on the brain.
The couple allegedly promised to name their next child after lawyer Joe Tacopina, who represented Rocky, 36, in his assault trial that ended in a not guilty verdict on Tuesday.
“Rihanna and Rocky said to me in the courtroom yesterday, they grabbed me and they said, ‘Listen, our next baby is A$AP Joe,’” Tacopina, 58, told Billy Bush in an interview with Extra.
“I said, ‘I’m gonna hold you to that!’” Tacopina added.
Rocky and Rihanna, 37, are parents to sons RZA, 2, and Riot, 1.
Tacopina also said that after the verdict Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers) “said some very nice things. I mean, he told me he loved me, and we’re family.”
The “Praise the Lord” rapper was charged in 2022 following a 2021 fight with his former friend A$AP Relli, who testified that Rocky confronted him outside a Hollywood parking garage and shot him during the confrontation.
Rocky faced up to 24 years in prison if convicted. He denied all the prosecutors’ allegations.
At a downtown Los Angeles courthouse on Tuesday, the jury decided Rocky was not guilty on two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, following a nearly four-week trial.
The father of two celebrated by jumping up and down while hugging people — including Rihanna — before saying,“Thank y’all for saving my life.”
Describing how Rocky was before the verdict was read, Tacopina told Extra, “He didn’t know if he was going to go home and see his two babies that night or start a, you know, a decade-long prison sentence, literally, that day, and he looked at me, and he grabbed me, and he said, ‘Joe, I want you to know I know how hard you fought here. I know everything you’ve done, and I just appreciate you so much. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me… and we’re in this together no matter what, and I love you.’”
“It was special that he did that,” the attorney added. “That’s why I got emotional in that summation at the end, five and a half hours of me speaking straight to a jury. At the end, it all crescendoed when I started talking about him and how important he is to me, and how good of a person he is and Rihanna and their family, and how much I appreciated them putting their trust in me.”
Rihanna appeared in court to support Rocky several times, even sitting with his mother and sister during her first appearance late last month.
The “Diamonds” singer celebrated the not guilty verdict by writing on Instagram, “THE GLORY BELONGS TO GOD AND GOD ALONE. THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!”
