Accused getaway driver arrested for murder in Bronx laundromat parking lot shooting

An accused getaway driver in the shooting of a 26-year-old man in a Bronx laundromat parking lot, has been arrested for murder as cops continue to hunt for the gunman, officials said Wednesday.

Norman Moore, 64, was arrested Friday for murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly driving the gunman to and from the parking lot of Laundrybee 24/7 near White Plains Road and Rosewood St. in Williamsbridge about 6:40 p.m. Oct 7, cops said.

The gunman fatally shot Fareed Adeyi, who was sitting in a navy blue Volkswagen Passat outside the laundromat down the block from his home.

“I just hope justice will be served,” the sister of the victim, who did not want to be named, told the Daily News after the arrest.

“(Adeyi) did not deserve to die. He didn’t deserve to go that way. He never had a wife or a kid. He never had a chance to do anything.”

Medics rushed Adeyi to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died.

“It was the worst news of my life,” his sister said. “I was in shock, devastated and couldn’t believe it … That was my blood brother. We grew up together.”

Moore was ordered held without bail during his arraignment at Bronx Criminal Court on Saturday.

The gunman, who was wearing a black hoodie with a floral pattern, fired off four shots and then fled on foot on White Plains Road. He dropped his hoodie before turning the corner and fleeing west on Rosewood St.

“He was hit in the chest,” a witness said at the time of the shooting. “He was sitting in the driver’s seat.”

The victim and wanted gunman knew each other, police sources said. Cops have not released the name of the suspected gunman or publicly identified a motive.

Moore had four prior arrests dating from 1994 to 2000 for criminal trespassing, forgery, possession of a forged instrument and robbery, cops said.

A funeral was held for Adeyi on Oct 11. He was the youngest of six siblings.

“He was loved by a lot of people,” his sister said. “He liked dancing and playing around. He was a very loving person.”
