The man accused of stalking Jennifer Aniston and crashing his car through her front gate was ruled incompetent for trial on Thursday but demanded a second opinion.
Jimmy Carwyle, 48, faces multiple charges for the May 5 crash at Aniston’s Los Angeles home. He appeared in court Thursday in a blue smock used by jails for suicide prevention.
A county-appointed psychiatrist found Carwyle was not capable of defending himself and therefore unfit for trial, Carwyle’s attorney, Robert Krauss, told the court.
But Carwyle requested a second mental health evaluation, which Judge Maria Cavaluzzi approved. The next hearing in the case was scheduled for May 29.
Prosecutors did not speak at Thursday’s hearing. Aniston’s representatives declined any comment.
Carwyle began bombarding Aniston with messages, e-mails and voicemails beginning in March 2023 and continuing into May 2025, according to authorities. On May 5, he allegedly drove a car through the front gate of her home in Los Angeles’ Bel Air neighborhood and was arrested at the scene.
Aniston, 56, was home at the time but had no interaction with Carwyle. He was charged with felony stalking and vandalism and ordered to stay away from the actress. He has complied with the order by virtue of being unable to post $150,000 bail to secure his release from jail.
