All 19 NY House Dems — including AOC — back Kathy Hochul for re-election

All 19 House Democratic lawmakers from New York have endorsed Gov. Kathy Hochul’s renomination, following in the footsteps of NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

The mass backing came ahead of Friday’s state party convention in Syracuse, where Hochul is expected to be easily renominated over Lt. Gov Antonio Delgado.

“As the Trump administration and MAGA Republicans sow chaos, division and dysfunction in Washington, Governor Hochul is unifying our party and leading the fight to protect New Yorkers and deliver real progress,” read a statement from the House members published by the New York Times. “That’s why we’re proud to stand behind her re-election campaign, and why we’re committed to working alongside her to take back the House in 2026.”

The lawmakers endorsing Hochul include House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, “Squad” member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Long Island Rep. Tom Suozzi, who waged an unsuccessful primary challenge against the governor four years ago.

Mamdani, 34, formally endorsed the governor in an op-ed published by The Nation magazine Thursday, saying he and Hochul have a “model” governing relationship while acknowledging they “do not agree on everything.”

“As we face threats from Washington, she has defended our social safety net and protected funding for critical infrastructure projects,” he wrote.

“And together, we have forged a new era in the relationship between Albany and City Hall after too many years defined by pettiness instead of productivity.”

If renominated by voters in the June 23 primary, Hochul, 67, is favored to win a second full term in November over the Republican nominee, expected to be President Trump-endorsed Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman.

Delago, 49, will earn a spot on the primary ballot if he garners support from 25% of convention delegates, or, failing that, submits a petition signed by 15,000 registered Democrats by April 6.
