An Amazon delivery driver who’s accused of intentionally striking a man with his vehicle during a fatal road rage incident last month has been arrested in Philadelphia, officials said Wednesday.
The initial incident occurred on Nov. 21 in Allentown when Troy Johnson, a 30-year-old Amazon driver, allegedly got into a verbal altercation with Rigoberto “Rigo” Hernandez, a 29-year-old married father of three.
The argument escalated when Hernandez exited his vehicle to confront Johnson for potentially hitting his car with his van, at which point Johnson deliberately struck him and then fled the scene, prosecutors said.
“The victim ended up on the hood or windshield of the van and the van driver drove away with [Hernandez] still on the vehicle. He apparently fell off blocks away,” said Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan.
Hernandez died later that day from blunt force injuries suffered in the crash and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. The case was delegated to the U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force last week.
At around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Allentown homicide detectives and members of the task force responded to a home belonging to Johnson’s family in southwest Philadelphia. There, Johnson was found and arrested without incident on charges of third-degree murder. He’s currently awaiting arraignment.

“While nothing can undo the harm that was done to the Hernandez family, I hope this arrest brings a measure of closure to the family,” said Robert Clark, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal for the Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force.
