Amy Poehler had her eyes wide shut for this movie.
The actress, 54, accidentally mistook Nicole Kidman for Gwyneth Paltrow in the 2003 film “Cold Mountain.”
“‘Cold Mountain.’ How cold was the mountain?” Poehler teased to the Goop founder, 53, on Tuesday’s episode of her “Good Hang” podcast.
“I wasn’t in ‘Cold Mountain!’” Paltrow replied.
Poehler quickly made a joke about the faux pas, exclaiming: “Oh, forget it then.”
Paltrow was flattered, telling the “Parks and Recreation” alum, “But thanks for thinking I’m Nicole Kidman. Bonus!”
“Wait, why did I think you were in ‘Cold Mountain?’” Poehler inquired, to which Paltrow replied, “I don’t know, but I’m so happy you did.”
Keeping the joke going, the comedian elaborated: “‘Eyes Wide Shut.’ What was it like working with your husband Tom Cruise?”
Paltrow went along with the ruse, replying, “Oh, he was hot.”
Kidman, 58, starred opposite her then-husband, 63, in the 1999 thriller mystery, two years before their split.
The Australian actress was married to Cruise from 1990 until 2001. Kidman went on to tie the knot with Keith Urban in 2006. The exes, who share daughters, Sunday, 17, and Faith, 15, split last year.
In 2003, the same year Kidman was in “Cold Mountain,” Paltrow was starring in the rom-com “View from the Top.”
She played a flight attendant alongside Christina Applegate, Kelly Preston, Mike Myers, Mark Ruffalo and Candice Bergen.
Paltrow, for her part, was married to Chris Martin from 2003 until their separation in 2014. The pair’s divorce was not finalized until 2016. The former flames are parents to Apple, 21, and Moses, 19.
While speaking with Poehler on Tuesday, the mom of two recounted her decision to partake in “conscious uncoupling” with the Coldplay singer, 48.
“I was supposed to do a movie at one point, and it was right after the kind of ‘conscious uncoupling’ thing with Chris,” Paltrow recalled, “and there was a lot of harsh stuff in the press, and I think the distributor was like, ‘I think this might be too hot to touch.‘”
“So that was great, cause I was getting a divorce and then I got fired. It was so awesome,” the “Marty Supreme” star added.
Paltrow and Martin used the term “consciously uncoupling” when announcing their split at the time.
“Boy, were you ahead of your time. You really were,” Poehler gushed.
“Which is good and bad,” Paltrow said, before noting that some critics hated the approach.
“I do understand why it was so personal for people cause it was,” she continued. “You only see that reaction when it’s personal.”
Paltrow went on to marry Brad Falchuk in 2018. However, she and the musician have remained close over the years.
“I think Chris and I were meant to be together and have our kids,” Paltrow told the UK’s Evening Standard in 2019. “But our relationship is much better like this: friends and co-parents and family.”
“Family structure can be reinvented and divorce doesn’t have to be devastating. It doesn’t have to be the end of your relationship with somebody.”
