New York City mayoral hopeful Andrew Cuomo has found himself at the butt of the joke — yet again — after he reshared a post from an account named “Andrew Cuomo is a sex pest.”
Cuomo, who resigned in disgrace as governor in 2021 amid a wave of sexual harassment claims, was trolled mercilessly over the mishap — as X users quipped his social media team should be fired.
The mockery unfolded after Cuomo’s X account shared a since-deleted post praising his newly unveiled campaign logo.
“Unfortunately I do like the new logo. The sun rising over the crown of the Statue of Liberty is great,” the original user, whose handle is @AnthonyMEmerson, posted.
“Thank you we worked hard on it,” Cuomo responded
The user then appeared to change his display name after the fact — ensuring the glaring “sex pest” claims were in full view on Cuomo’s account, the mayoral candidate’s team said.
“When you retweet Andrew Cuomo is a Sex Pest and you are Andrew Cuomo…fire your social media team right?????” one X user quipped.
“Quote tweeting is [sic] user with the name ‘Andrew Cuomo is a sex pest’ is hilarious,” another said.
“This is real lmao,” one post read.
A spokesperson for Cuomo told The Post the X account’s name was changed after the mayoral hopeful had already re-shared it.
“It was changed after the fact,” his rep, Rich Azzopardi, said.
“We’ve clearly been more aggressive with our online strategy and engaging with those who have great cell phone reception under the bridges they call home is one of the great joys of social media.”
It comes just weeks after Cuomo was mocked for a mea culpa about his campaign when the ex-governor vowed to focus on “touching more people.”
