Anna Wintour won’t make cameo in ‘Devil Wears Prada’ sequel

Anna Wintour apparently wants to continue separating fiction from fact when it comes to “The Devil Wears Prada.

The longtime Vogue editor reportedly will not appear in the upcoming sequel to the blockbuster film inspired by her reign as the high-ranking fashion magazine maven.

Although Wintour was recently spotted chopping it up with “Devil Wears Prada 2” stars Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Simone Ashley after a Dolce & Gabbana spring 2026 fashion show in Milan in video clips posted to social media, the buck apparently stops there.

Entertainment Weekly confirmed Monday that she will not be in the film, which has been shooting in and around New York City over the summer.

However, Vogue magazine seems to be in on the fun of the latest film — also starring Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Sir Kenneth Branagh as the spouse of Streep’s titular character Miranda Priestly.

“That is NOT all: Miranda Priestly made a surprise appearance on the front row at @DolceGabbana this afternoon in Milan,” a caption at the fashion show began on the magazine’s official Instagram channel.

Streep immortalized the role of Priestly, loosely inspired by Wintour, in the 2006 blockbuster based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 bestseller, which spun off a sequel novel, “Revenge Wears Prada,” ten years later. The author worked at Vogue for less than a year, beginning in 1999.

Directed again by David Frankel, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” — set for release next year — will reportedly see Priestly experiencing the cratering of the magazine business, and now forced to build bridges with her one-time assistant who is the head of a luxury brand and its advertising budget.

As icy as Wintour is known to be within fashion and media circles, she didn’t give a bad review to the original film.

The 75-year-old London native recently revealed that she “went to the premiere wearing Prada, completely having no idea what the film was going to be about.”

She added: “In the end it had a lot of humor to it, it had a lot of wit, it had Meryl Streep… They were all amazing. And in the end, I thought it was a fair shot.”

In 2009, Wintour made it clear to David Letterman that the film was “fiction” but did share: “What I liked about the movie is that it really showed all the hard work that goes into the making of the magazine.”
