Apple fans have been waiting in anticipation for the new iPhone reveal.
However, on Tuesday, when the tech giant unveiled the iPhone 17 lineup, a collective sigh was heard amongst customers due to their disappointment over the new design.
“iPhone 17 Pro, our ugliest iPhone ever,” one frustrated person wrote on X.
The iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and the super-thin iPhone Air will reportedly be equipped with more powerful chips, better battery life and new cameras with four times the resolution of the previous model.
But that’s not enough to woo customers.
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will each feature a full-width camera island, which will annoyingly take up the entire top third of the phone.
The new phones will also no longer have a smooth back panel — instead, they’ll have a redesigned glass panel, making wireless charging easier.
When dummy photos of the new phones originally leaked to X, customers had a lot to say about the updated look then — and the confirmation of the new design fired them up even more.
“Terrible design. Terrible, terrible, terrible,” another said.
“This used to be the s–t apple mocked other phone companies for, and here they are becoming a parody of themselves,” someone noted, referencing how the new model’s camera bar looks eerily similar to that of their competitor, the Google Pixel 10.
“It looks like an ugly Android phone. It’s so not Apple,” one added.
“iPhone 17 Pro is the ugliest iPhone ever,” a user declared. “Steve Jobs would have fired everyone in his era.”
Aside from the physical design, fans are also upset with the wacky color options for the new devices.
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are available in three colors: silver, deep blue and cosmic orange.
The orange option was a bold choice, with some calling it “a crime against design.” Many online users were also disappointed over the fact that there won’t be a black colored option.
“No black iPhone 17 Pro is just insanely dumb,” someone said.
Pre-orders for the new iPhones begin on September 12 and they’ll officially be on sale September 19.
The iPhone 17 Pro will start at $1,099 for a 256-gigabyte model, the same as the previous year’s model with the same storage size, but without the option of a smaller-capacity phone at a lower price of $999.
