Armed robbers tie up Newark man during home invasion

Two invaders broke into a man’s Newark home, tied him up and robbed him, police said Tuesday as they sought the elusive suspects.

The men were wearing “dark-colored clothing” when they barged into a residence just after 10 p.m. Monday, brandishing firearms, the Newark Police Department said in a media release.

Bursting into the family room, they ambushed the victim, demanded his property and “inquired about an unknown male,” according to police.

“The suspects then tied the victim’s hands and ransacked his room” before fleeing “with an undisclosed amount of money and property,” leaving the resident uninjured, police said.

Surveillance cameras were not in play, so no footage of the crime was available. Authorities have appealed to the public for help in identifying the suspects as the investigation continues.
